Around the World in 80 Days is a novel about a rich man named Pbileas Fogg. Fogg lives in England in the late nineteenth century. He is a single man with regular habits.

At the beginning of the story, Fogg hires a new butler by the name of Jean Passepartout. Later that day, Fogg goes to the Reform Club. The members of the Reform Club are talking about the possibility of travelling around the world in eighty days.

Fogg makes a wager of 20 000 pounds - which is half his fortune - that he can travel around the world in eighty days. The Reform Club members accept the bet.

Fogg and Passepartout then immediately begin their journey around the world. In Eygpt, a detective from Scotland Yard, Fix suspects that Fogg is a bank robber. He tries to get an arrest warrant for Fogg. However, he can only arrest Fogg once he gets back to England. Therefore, Fix follows Fogg and Passepartout on their journey.

During the journey, Fogg and Passepartout have many adventures. They manage to overcome all their challenges and return to England safely to collect the wager.

In the end, Fogg also marries Aouda, an Indian woman he rescues from bandits.
