The novel has taught me that in order to succeed, one must have perseverance and determination. Fogg was determined to succeed despite facing many obstacles. When Fogg first accepted the bet, he had read in the newspaper that a railway line in India had been completed. However, later he discovered that the railway line had not been completed. Fogg decided to buy an elephant and hire a guide to continue the journey.
Later, as they were about to board a steamer to Hong Kong, Passepartout was arrested. Fogg paid the judge and they quickly took the next ship to Hong Kong.

When Fogg and his companions were travelling from San Francisco to New York in a train, they were attacked by outlaws. The outlaws kidnapped Passepartout. Fogg managed to rescue him but they missed the steamer to Liverpool. Fogg then paid a ship captain to take them to Liverpool. They encountered bad weather and lack of coal on the ship. Despite that, Fogg never gave up and won the bet in the end.
