Walking through the forest was a kaleidoscope of colour, shades and shapes. The variety of massive trees and flowering plants was astounding. Also you were never sure what creature you saw behind a tree - a squirrel, a monkey or even a a deer! In the jungle you were suddenly made aware of the importance of trees. They provide food, fuel, shelter, medicines and even the air is essential for life. Tracts of rainforest play a big part in regulating the world's climate and atmosphere. The broad - leaved trees absorb carbon dioxide from the air and release oxygen. With the cutting down of trees, less carbon dioxide id absorbed and the heat gets locked up in the atmosphere. This results in the earth gets hotter, paved the way for future devastation.
