Be sure the titrant is well mixed before using, shake bottle well. Be sure it is clean. Old style burettes need the stopcock greased, newer ones need to see the teflon part is well seatesd so it does not leak. Test burette with distilled water to insure no liquid adheres to the sides. Rinse the burette with the titrating solution once if dry, thrice if wet. Drain a portion of the titrant to fill the tip with solution. Zero the burette. Keep your eye level at the level of the meniscus to avoid parallax in reading volumes. Rinse out the burette with distilled water when finished and store inverted or filled with distilled water and a cap to prevent dust from entering, an inverted test tube works well.
