Good morning to everyone and especially the principal of (your school name), our beloved teachers and the members on the floor. As the president of the public speaking club, I feel honored for giving me this opportunity to talk to you on ways to overcome fear of public speaking. Did you know that public speaking is the number one fear in North America after death, yes it may seem a little bit odd but that is the truth.
First of all, before we start, we must prepare and practice our speech to make sure everything goes well. Practice your speech in front of the mirror like you were speaking to someone and you have to pay attention to your facial expressions, body gesture and how you welcome your audience. It is crucial to have a gentle expressions and a calm manner when you speak, so that you will be more welcoming to the audiences.
And the second one, we have to relax before our speech. Adrenaline is a hormone release in your body cause your body to increase the heart rate and produce more sweat, making you feel like there's a butterfly in your stomach and make your feel very nervous. To control your heart rate, first take a deep breath and let it out. Do this 2 or 3 times to make sure your hearth rate has gone back to normal.
Last but not least, we must engage our audience and answer their questions politely.
Before I end my speech, I want to tell you that public speaking can give you a lot of benefits and you can improve your language, you can also gain respect from the public and increase your self esteem. That's all for today.
