Electrolysis has many other uses: Production of oxygen for spacecraft and nuclear submarines. Electroplating is used in layering metals to fortify them. Electroplating is used in many industries for functional or decorative purposes, as in vehicle bodies and nickel coins. For example, many car parts are plated with chromium to make them resistant to corrosion. Aluminium is produced by electrolysis of bauxite, an aluminium ore. Chlorine and sodium hydroxide are produced by the electrolysis of brine ( a solution of NaCl in water). Here's a video on the use of electrolysis in industry.
